A 45 year old patient was seen in our medical clinic in Orlando for the complaints of headache and now paralysis of the face on the right side. The patient is scared that he has stroke. The patient was seen by doctor in the emergency room 7 days ago because of headache and pimples on the skin of the scalp. The patient had CT scan in the emergency room which was normal. The patient was told that the patient has migraine and was given Ibuprofen and doxycycline for the pimples of the head. The patient didn’t feel any better from the treatment given in the hospital. The patient was seen by Dr. Jain who diagnosed that has shingles and his headache and pimples is from shingles. The patient had Bell’s palsy secondary to shingles. The patient had blood drawn for CBC, chemistry. The patient was treated with acyclovir 800 mg 5 times a day and medrol dose pak. The patient responded well to the treatment and his headache was resolved. The facial palsy also seemed to be improved.
The proper diagnosis is very essential to the treatment and to prevent the complication of the illness.
