Abdominal Pain – High Calcium & Decreased Renal Functions

We saw a patient who came to our medical clinic with complaints of abdominal pain, nausea and loss of appetite. The patient thought he had a flu. Dr.Usha Jain ordered blood tests to make sure the patient did not have any liver or kidney problems. Patient was given antibiotics for presumed infection of the gastrointestinal tract.

The next day patient’s  blood tests revealed high calcium and compromised renal functions. Repeat tests confirmed the same results. Patient was advised immediately to go to hospital. Another example of saving the life with simple blood tests.

Patient will be checked out for hyperparathyrioidism and renal failure.
