Thyroid Tests and Urgent Care Medical Center

A 22-year-old patient was seen in our Urgent Care Center by Dr. Usha Jain for the complaints of tiredness and weight gain. The patient otherwise was healthy and had no other complaints. The patient had blood drawn for lab tests and also given a thyroid test. The patient’s blood tests were normal but her thyroid tests were abnormal. TSH was high which meant that patient is hypothyroid. Dr. Usha Jain ordered blood tests for thyroid antibodies, thyroid peroxidase and thyrooid antiglobulin antibodies. They revealed that the patient had high peroxidase antibodies. The patient was given thyroid medicine and was told to return for a follow up in 4 to 6 weeks.

The patient started to feel better and she also lost some weight.
