We have seen a 45 year old patient with pains in the joints for past several months. The patient had seen a rheumatologist and had many tests done and she was told that she had fibromyalgia and she needs to take lyrica for the pain. The patient didn’t want to take lyrica and decided to come to the clinic to seek another opinion. The patient was seen by Dr. Jain and blood tests were ordered including hormone tests. The patient had deficiency of progesterone. The patient was given progesterone to start in the mid cycle and continue till the beginning of the next menstrual cycle. The patient started to feel better after one week of progesterone therapy.
The proper diagnosis is important and the treatment directed to the diagnosis is important. The patient can be saved from unnecessary drug therapy.
