Orlando Walk in Clinic-Umbilical Hernia

We have seen a 67 year old with the complaints of lump of the abdomen which was noticed when he was putting the mulch in the lawn.  The patient was seen by Dr. Usha Jain  and was diagnosed to have umbilical hernia. The patient was instructed, not to lift anything heavy.

An umbilical hernia is an outward soft bulging (protrusion) of the abdominal lining or part of the abdominal organ(s) through the area around the belly button. Umbilical hernias are usually painless.

Usually, no treatment is needed unless in rare cases, bowel or other tissue can bulge out and lose its blood supply (become strangulated). This is an emergency needing surgery.
