We saw a 78 year old lady with pain in the wrist. The patient fell down and hurted her wrist. The patient didn’t think that she had it broken but pain persisted so she came to the clinic next day. Dr. Usha Jain examined her and ordered x-ray of her wrist which showed a small fracture of radius. The patient was referred to an orthopedic surgeon. The patient also had osteoporosis of the bones. The patient was consulted to take care of osteoporosis once the fracture is taken care of.
X-ray is an essential part of an evaluation of an injury. The fracture would have been missed if the patient didn’t have an x ray.
